  The bill prohibiting the cultivation and breeding of genetically modified plants and animals on the territory of Russia.

  The prime minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev signed the order about entering into the State Duma of the bill directed on improvement of state regulation of genetically engineered activity. The ban on cultivation and breeding of genetically modified plants and animals  on the territory of Russia, except for their use for carrying out examinations and research works is established by the document. The draft of the federal law "About modification of some acts of the Russian Federation and the Code of the Russian Federation about administrative offenses regarding improvement of state regulation in the field of genetically engineered activity" is developed in pursuance of orders of the Russian President following the results of meeting with members of council of Safety "About a state and problems of ensuring national security in connection with use of genetically modified organisms" for the purpose of minimization of risks for the person and environment. The bill suggests to allocate the government with the right to forbid import to Russia of the specified organisms and production.
